It is often said that food tastes better overlooking the water. We tend to agree. Enjoy these delicious events over the weekend of 28 Feb/1 March by the river as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, proudly supported by the City of Melbourne and the Yarra River Business Association.

1. FOOD & FUN WITH YOUR GRANNY @ ARTPLAY
Buzz on down to Artplay for tasty snacks and cooking classes with the Snack Habitat team, Alice in Frames (host of Kitchen Whiz, edible adventurer) and Rebecca Sullivan (safe-guarder of Granny Skills).

2. KIDS’ WEEKEND AT POP UP PATCH
Bring your little people to The Little Veggie Patch Co.’s city backyard — Pop Up Patch — for a kids’ weekend of garden tours, scarecrow-making, ticketed hands-on gardening and creepy crawlies workshops.

3. FED SQUARE HARVEST

4. “PURE BLANC” @ BAR BLANC
“Pure Blanc” will showcase sustainable produce with clean flavours being the hero of the event in a white inspired outdoor space.

5. A COASTAL CULINARY TRAIL
When it comes to seafood, Australia is the lucky country. Wander the coastal culinary trail on the riverside deck atArbory Bar & Eatery, enjoying a diverse range of fabulous seafood, complemented by boutique wines.

6. SOUTHGATE FOOD AND WINE FIESTA
Stroll the Southgate Promenade to celebrate with restaurants offering special tasting plates, wine tastings and riverside entertainment.

7. #MELBOURNEFROMABOVE
Overlooking the city’s prominent food hubs of Lygon Street, Victoria Street, Sydney Road and Fitzroy from Eureka 89, consultant Executive Chef Justin Wise will recreate their flavours in his own personal style.

8. CROWN’S ALFRESCO KITCHEN
Relax on the grass at Crown’s eating and drinking hub. All your favourites including The Merrywell, Gradi, Sho, and Mövenpick ice cream will be there as you sample drinks from pop-up bars like Rekorderlig, Matilda Bay, Chandon, Rosemount, Cascade and Vittoria.

9. RIVERSIDE POP-UP PICNIC

10. PIRATES & PIMM’S — ADVENTURE FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY

12. MCEC FOOD TRUCK JAM
Roll up to Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s lawn and wander through a line-up of the city’s best food and beverage trucks, enjoying tastes of this diverse and popular street eats scene.

13. GRAZING BY THE RIVER
South Wharf Promenade will transform into a hawker-style food fest with our Japanese, Thai, Italian, German, Spanish – and even good old Aussie – restaurants serving street food along the south banks of the Yarra.
