Game, Set, Match: Take A Water Taxi To The Australian Open

The downside of the Aus Open is the huge crowds, the heat and parking. However, we have all those covered for you so that your AO experience is as enjoyable as possible.

There’s always a buzz around the precinct when the Aus Open rolls around. Twelve days of dynamic sporting prowess and heaps of spectator entertainment to be had at Melbourne Park, both on and off the courts.

That’s the upside, but the downside is the huge crowds, the heat and parking. However, we have all those negatives well covered for you, so that your AO experience is as enjoyable as possible – game, set, match !

The recipe for a stress-free AO is simple. Just park at Southgate or Eureka Tower, enjoy a snack or meal in the air conditioned comfort of one of Southgate’s restaurants, then catch a water taxi to the tennis – door to door. At the end of your tennis session, do it all in reverse.

At Southgate’s landmark Pure South eatery, you can choose from simply grabbing a bacon + egg roll, coffee, then jump on the water taxi for $25,  or you can enjoy a dine-in breakfast dish, coffee and water taxi ride for $35. You will not find better value than Pure South’s lunch/dinner deal, which includes a meal, drink and Water Taxi for just $69. Ph 9699 4600 or puresouth.com.au

The Deck restaurant is a long time Southgate’s favourite and for the Open the restaurant is teaming two special group menus with water taxi booking. You can also choose a la carte. Just make a dining selection, tell them you want to go by water taxi to the tennis and they will do the rest for you. One-way tickets to Rod Laver Arena are $12pp
, with a return ticket for $24pp. View the special menus here then contact the team for bookings at info@thedeckrestaurant.com.au or on 03 9699 9544.

Southgate’s fun and breezy eatery Bearbrass is making it very simple for you. Their $55 lunch or dinner meal also includes a Heinekin, a wine or Aperol Spritz and a return Water Taxi trip. The water taxi departs from right in front of Bearbrass. Ph 9682 3799 or www.bearbrass.com.au
