Parks Victoria is a statutory authority of the Victorian Government acting in accordance with the Parks Victoria Act 2018. Parks Victoria is responsible for navigation and water management from Port of Melbourne to the source of the Yarra River. It also manages a significant portion of the parklands along the Yarra River, in particular Yarra Bend Park, Yarra Valley Parklands, Warrandyte State Park and Yarra Ranges National Park. Parks Victoria also protects and enhances over four million hectares of parks across Victoria and is the Local Port Manager for Port Phillip Bay, Western Port and the Waterway Manager for the Yarra and Maribyrnong rivers.
For the safety of all river users, any works within the Yarra or Maribyrnong Rivers requires a Works Permit prior to commencing works.

An application should be completed by anyone who proposes to conduct an event or organised activity on Parks Victoria managed land or waterways. An organised activity may refer to any bays or waterways organised activity such as a boat race, regatta, swimming race, competition, tournament, fireworks display or any other similar event.
